SYDNEY, Australia, July 10, 2017 – Soliton Systems, the leading manufacturer of mobile video contribution using H.265 encoding over 3G or 4G mobile phone networks will be demonstrating Smart-telecaster Zao-S at the Society of Motion Picture and Television Engineers (SMPTE) trade show in Sydney from 18th-21st July 2017.
Soliton Systems specialize in mobile video contribution systems for live video streaming direct from the camera. Live video can be streamed to any global location on the internet. The ZAO-S is a miniature device that provides H.265 HEVC encoding direct from the camera streamed over multiple “bonded” 3G/4G telephone carriers. Zao-S is the lightest H.265 mobile encoder on the market and is not much bigger than an iPhone folded in half. Given its tiny size and weight it has numerous applications from sitting on a journalist’s belt, to sports where it can be hidden on a race bike or car, to security body cams where it could be used to stream super live HD video to anywhere in the world to satisfy today’s demand for pristine real-time mobile video.

Our engineers have overcome the technical challenges of fitting so much processing power into such a small unit and given the cost sensitive nature of the TV production industry, we believe the small price for our new small model will be very well received.
The advantages of H.265 over H.264 are numerous. H.265 encoding, also known as HEVC, provides more efficient compression of 40-50%. This efficiency means quality video can be delivered on half the traditional bit rate over the network, meaning much more reliability, especially on mobile phone networks. Latency is also typically much lower.
